Sinopec Zhongyuan Petrochemical is a large‑scale petrochemical enterprise featuring in‑depth integration of petrochemical and coal‑chemical operations. As a key national construction project under the Eighth Five‑Year Plan, it was completed and put into operation in 1996 with 11 production units in total. Among them, the ethylene unit adopted the world’s most advanced Lummus technology at that time.

In 2011, the company commissioned a 600 kt/a S‑MTO (methanol‑to‑olefins) unit. As Sinopec’s first state‑of‑the‑art demonstration unit, it marked the industrialization of China’s self‑developed full‑process methanol‑to‑olefins technology.
Since 2018, Sinopec Zhongyuan Petrochemical has set its sights on developing high‑end, specialized and premium‑grade products. Through four to five years of painstaking research by its core team, dozens of diverse tests and seven pilot‑scale trials, the company has achieved major technological breakthroughs in lithium‑ion battery separator materials and high‑end capacitor film materials.
